Associate Attorney
Remote role for an attorney admitted in a US state or licensed in a Canadian province, working with our principal attorney on immigration and business matters.
Mayo Law is an international law firm operating in New York and Toronto. We are looking for an Associate Attorney to work with our principal attorney, Joseph Mayo, on client matters.
The position is remote and open to candidates anywhere in the United States or Canada.
The role
You will handle client matters in the firm's practice areas: US immigration, including E-2, TN and L-1 visas; Canadian citizenship by descent under Bill C-3; business and corporate law; and compliance.
What you will do
- Advising clients and handling matters in the firm's practice areas
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, corporate documents, petitions, applications and legal correspondence
- Researching legal questions and writing clear advice for clients
- Communicating with clients, collecting information and documents, and keeping matters on schedule
- Working with the principal attorney and the firm's team
Who we are looking for
- Admitted to practice law in at least one US state, or licensed as a lawyer in a Canadian province or territory, and in good standing
- Clear, careful legal writing and research
- Organized, responsive and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
- Located in the United States or Canada
Experience in immigration, business or corporate law is an asset.
